Watch over the thoughts of our heart

What the devil will use the most to bring down man are thoughts. He will send out all kinds of thoughts for the purpose of making us sin, knowing that lust when she conceives gives birth to sin and sin when consumed produces death (James 1:15). The purpose of the devil is to kill our souls, to make us perish so that we inherit eternal suffering with him and it is important to know how he acts.

"And after supper, when the devil had already put in the heart of Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray him" (John 13: 2)

We notice that before Judas took action and betrayed Jesus, the devil had already put the thought of betraying Jesus in his heart. Judas did not fight this thought, but he coveted it, and lusting is already a sin; he therefore sinned and thus gave access to the devil (Matthew 5:28). Some time after satan put this thought in the heart of Judas:

"Satan entered into him. Jesus therefore said to him: What you are doing, do it faster." (John 13:27)

Jesus never tempted Judas contrary to what we might think, but this passage tells us that satan had entered Judas, which means that Jesus was not speaking to Judas, but to the devil, and he said to him: what you do, do it faster.

We therefore understand that when satan puts a thought within us, if we allow it to take place in us, we give access to the devil. That is why we have to watch over our thoughts more than anything else, because the thoughts of a man's heart are what causes his downfall. Even though you watch over your eyes, if you don't watch over the thoughts of your heart you will fall. When you receive bad thoughts, it is imperative that you immediately cast them out in the Name of Jesus Christ, so that they cannot take place in you; otherwise they will lead you to the act sooner or later; moreover we know that thought alone suffices to condemn us if it is coveted.

"Guard your heart from all that must be guarded against; for from it proceed the sources of life." (Proverbs 4:23)
