Psalm 151

Hallelujah! Psalm of David, Son of Jesse

I was smaller than my brothers,

the youngest of my father's sons.

So he made me a shepherd for his sheep,

the keeper of his goats.

My hands shaped a pipe,

my fingers a read,

and I glorified the Lord

I said to myself:

"The mountains do not pay homage to Him,

and the hills do not proclaim his glory. "

So echo my words,

O trees, O sheep, echo my works!

Ah, but who can proclaim, who can celebrate the works of the Lord?

God has seen everything, heard everything and prepared everything.

He sent a prophet to consecrate me,

Samuel himself, to raise me up

My brothers went to meet him:

Well made, wonderfully distinguished, they were tall

and their hair was beautiful.

Yet God, the Lord, does not choose them.

No, He sent for me, who followed the flock,

and consecrated me with holy oil.

He made me prince of His people,

the master of the sons of His covenant.

Psalm 152

(Spoken by David, when he was fighting with the lion and the wolf who had taken a sheep from his flock.)

O God, O God, come to my aid! Help me, save me, and deliver my soul from the killer.

Will I descend into the sheol through the lion's mouth? Will the wolf be my end?

Wasn't that enough for those who watched for my father's flock - did they also have to wish for the destruction of my own soul?

Have mercy, O Yahweh, and save Thy saint from destruction, so that he may repeat Thy glories all his days, and may praise Thy great name - when Thou hast delivered him from the fangs of the destructive lion, and of the wolf. ravenous, when You came to deliver me from the clutches of wild beasts. My Lord, quickly send a deliverer, and extract me from the gaping pit that imprisons me in its depths.

Psalm 153

(Spoken by David, who thanked God for delivering him from the lion and the wolf, after he had killed them both.)

Praise Yahweh, all you nations; glorify Him, and bless His name. He rescued the soul of His chosen one from the hand of death, and delivered His saint from destruction. He saved me from the nets of the sheol, and my soul from the unfathomable pit.

Before my deliverance came from Him, I was very close to being torn to pieces by two wild beasts. But he sent His angels, and shut the gaping mouths, and rescued my life from destruction. My soul will glorify and exalt Him, because of all the care He has given me, and will continue to lavish me.

Psalm 154

Lift up your voice and glorify God,

When the whole congregation is gathered, proclaim His glory.

In the multitude of the righteous glorify His name,

and remind the faithful of His greatness.

Tie your souls to the good, to the innocent, in order to praise the Most High.

Come together to proclaim His victory,

and do not delay in praising His power.

His glory to simple minds.

For wisdom was given to praise the glory of God;

it is so that he relates His many actions that it was lavished on man:

to reveal His glory to fools,

to those who do not see its doors, who wander far from its portals.

For the most high is the God of Jacob, and his majesty hovers over all His works.

Certainly, he who glorifies the Most High finds favor with him as if he offered a sacrifice;

as if he offered goats and calves, as if he fattened the hotel with myriads of burnt offerings,

pleasant smell in the hands of the righteous.

From the gates of the righteous, Wisdom makes her voice heard, from the pious assembly, her song.

When they eat and are full, they quote her,

when they drink and become one:

the subject of their interview is the Law of the Most High,

their words only serve to praise its power.

How far is His word from the wicked!

How could the proud man know her!

See, the eyes of the Lord are mercifully on the good.

His grace increases for those who sing His glory, from woe He will save their soul.

Blessed be the Lord who removes the poor from the power of their enemies,

who delivers the innocent from the oppression of the wicked.

He raised up a horn of Jacob, of Israel, the judge of the nations; in Zion,

He will choose to establish His residence, setting his sights on Jerusalem for eternity.

Psalm 155

O Lord, I cry to You, listen to me.

I stretch out my hands to Your holy abode,

lend an ear and accede to my request;

do not deny me your favor.

Enlighten my soul, do not plunge it into confusion;

that she does not find herself alone in front of the ungodly.

May the Judge of truth turn away from me the wages of sin;

O Lord, do not judge me as my sin demands, for no living person can be justified before You.

Make me, O Lord, understand Your Law, and teach me Your statutes.

so that many may hear of Your deeds, and the peoples to praise Your glory.

Remember me, do not forget me;

do not plunge me into unbearable torments.

Put away the sins of my youth,

and cause my sins not to be held against me.

Free me from the affliction of evil and never let her come again.

May its roots in me wither, may its leaves not find their sap in me.

Lord, You are glory itself,

that through her my prayer be fulfilled in Your presence.

Who else can I implore to see it answered?

Men ? Their strength has receded, my confidence, O Lord, is in You.

I shouted “O Lord! And He answered me.

He healed my broken heart.

I dozed off and slept,

I dreamed, then woke up.

It is You, O Lord, who sustained me, when I was struck in the heart;

for I cried, “O Lord, my Savior! "

Now I will see their shame; but hidden in You, I would not be ashamed.

Redeem, O Lord, Israel, Your saints, the very house of Jacob, Your elect.

Psalm 156

(A plea for [obtaining] deliverance.)

A worm does not thank You, and a maggot does not tell of Your loving mercy. Only the living thank You, all those whose feet stumble thank You, when You make known to them Your loving mercy, and allows them to understand Your Justice.

For the soul of all living is in Your hand, and You have given breath to all flesh.

O Yahweh, treat us according to Your loving kindness, according to the greatness of Your mercies, and according to the greatness of Your righteous works. Yahweh listens to the voice of all who love His name, and He does not allow His loving benevolence to depart from them.

Blessed be Yahweh, who does righteous works, who crowns those whom he has set apart with kindness and mercy. My soul cries out to praise Your name, to praise Your mercy with jubilation, to proclaim Your fidelity. For there is no limit to Your praise.

I belong to death because of my sins, and my iniquities have sold me to the sheol. But You have saved me, O Yahweh, according to the greatness of Your mercies, and according to the greatness of Your righteous works. I loved Your name indeed, and took refuge in Your shadow. My heart is strengthened when I remember Your power, and trust in Your mercies.

Forgive my sins, O Yahweh, and cleanse me from my iniquity. Grant me a spirit of faithfulness and knowledge. Don't allow me to be dishonored by my loss. Do not allow the wicked or the unclean spirit to take hold of me, and do not allow pain or evil inclinations to take possession of my bones. For You, O Yahweh, are [the object of] my praise, and I hope in You daily. My brother rejoices with Me, and my father's house is amazed by Your elegant grace. I will always rejoice in You.

Psalm 157

(A hymn to Zion.)

I remember you, O Zion, for your blessing. I love you with all my strength, for your memory is to be eternally blessed. Great is your hope, O Zion, peace and your long-awaited deliverance will come. Generation after generation will dwell in you, and the generations of the righteous will be your ornament.

Those who long for the day of your deliverance will rejoice in the greatness of your glory. They will be nourished by the breast of your glory, and in your beautiful streets they will make ringing sounds. You will remember the righteous works of your prophets, and you will boast in the works of your righteous.

Take away violence from the midst of your bosom; may falsehood and iniquity be cut off from you. Your sons will rejoice in you, and those you cherish will be united to you. How many have hoped for your salvation? How much have your righteous people cried for you? Your hope, O Zion, will not perish, and your expectation will not be disappointed. Is there a righteous man who perished? Is there a man who has escaped his iniquities? Man is tried according to his ways, each one is rewarded according to his works. Your oppressors will be cut off from around you, O Zion, and all who hate you will be scattered.

Your praise is pleasing, O Zion, it is rising all over the world. I will remember you often to bless you, and I will bless you with all my heart. You will come to eternal righteousness, and you will receive blessings from the nobleman. Receive the vision that speaks of you, and the dreams of the prophets claimed for you. Be exalted and exalted, O Zion, and praise the Most High, your Redeemer! May your soul rejoice in your glory!

Psalm 158

(A hymn in the name of Yahweh.)

In the midst of the congregation they will rise up to praise the name of Yahweh, for He has come to judge every deed, to bring the wicked out of the earth, so that the children of iniquity are no longer found there.

The heavens will give their dew, and there will be no drought within their limits. The earth will yield its fruits in due time, and its products will not fail. The fruit trees will bear fruit from his vines, and the soil will not be stingy with its produce. The poor will eat, and those who fear the Lord will be satisfied.

Psalm 159

(A hymn to Judah.)

The days will come when heaven and earth will praise together. May all the twilight stars together express their praises! Rejoice, Judah, rejoice! Rejoice and be merry, full of joy! Celebrate your holidays and honor your vows, for there is no perversion within you.

Lift up your hand, and strengthen your right hand! Behold, the enemy will perish, and all the workers of iniquity will be scattered. But You, Yahweh, are forever, and Your glory will endure forever. Hallelujah!

Psalm 160

(A hymn to the Creator.)

Yahweh is great and holy, sacred above all else, generation after generation. Majesty precedes Him, and abundance of many waters follows Him. Benevolent love and truth halo His face. Truth, judgment, and righteousness are the pedestal of His throne. He separates the light from the unknown, and He establishes the dawn through the knowledge of His heart.

All of His messengers sang when they saw Him, for He showed them what they had not known. He crowns the mountains with fruit, good food for all living things.

Blessed be the Lord of the earth, as well as His power; for He has established the world by His wisdom. He spread the heavens by His understanding, and raised up the winds of the place where He contains them. He made a lightning for the rain, and He lifted up the mist from the ends of the earth.
