The identity of Jesus Christ

The Scriptures and the Holy Spirit reveal our God as indivisible and indivisible. We cannot divide God into different persons, nor can we separate him from his Spirit and his Word. The Scriptures teach us that God is ONE, in the sense that He is ONE; and under the Old Covenant He reveals Himself as the ONLY Lord God and the ONLY Saviour of men (James 2:19) (Deuteronomy 6:4) (Mark 12:29) (Isaiah 45:22). The God of the Bible who reveals Himself under the Old Covenant as Yahweh, says Himself that He will not give His Glory to another (Isaiah 42:8). He also reveals Himself as the King and Redeemer of Israel, the Shepherd of the sheep, the First and the Last; the prophets reveal Him as the Rock (Isaiah 44:6) (Ezekiel 34:11-31) (Psalms 18:3).

The Lord Yahweh had foretold that he would come himself to save his people; and most of the prophecies of the Old Covenant speak of his coming to earth. This is why the Jewish people waited for the coming of the Messiah, who would come to save their people (Isaiah 35:3-8).

Yahweh had thus forewarned that he himself would come to earth, and the prophets prophesied not only his coming, but also the suffering he would undergo, the rejection, the contempt of those who were waiting for him (Isaiah 53). There is no one who can understand the scriptures without God revealing them to him by His Spirit, which is why many people distort the meaning of the scriptures (Luke 24:45).

So men waited for the Saviour, who was none other than Yahweh himself, but the scriptures tell us that when he came, his own people did not receive him. Yahweh is the Light that shines in the darkness, but the darkness did not receive him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him (John 1:1-14). Yahweh therefore came into the world, in the form of a man, to save men, bearing with him the Name of Salvation, i.e. Jesus, which means "Yahweh is salvation".

As a man he was stripped of his Godhead (Philippians 2:5-8). What many people do not understand is that Jesus Christ as a man was not God, but Son of God, i.e. man filled with the Spirit of God. Men have divinised the man side of Jesus and thus divided God into several persons. The scriptures state that there is only ONE God and that He is the Father (1 Corinthians 8:6) (Ephesians 4:6). God the Son does not exist in the Bible, except in some mistranslated versions; but the Bible speaks of the firstborn Son of God. The firstborn of many brothers (Romans 8:29).

Yahweh came in the flesh and became Son in order to show by His life the perfect Example of a child of God, so that all those who believe in Him and wish to become children of God may receive His Spirit and follow Him on the Way of salvation by bearing their cross, in order to crucify their sinful nature and then be able to put on the nature of Christ (Son of God). The only way we can overcome the world and the flesh is by receiving the Holy Spirit and living by Him until we complete our sanctification, and to do this it was necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice Himself to redeem us by the price of His blood, so that we could receive His Spirit through faith in Him and His sacrifice; and through our commitment to follow Him.

The Word of God found in the Bible repeatedly tells us that there is only one God and Lord, that He is the Father and that His Name is Jesus (Yehoshua). The scriptures give us many similarities between Yahweh and Jesus, showing us that they are the same person. Indeed Jesus Christ is also called the Good Shepherd; the Way; the Truth; the Life; the King of Israel; the Rock; the First and the Last... (John 10:11) (John 14:6) (John 1:49) (1 Corinthians 10:4) (Revelation 22:13). He is revealed as both the King of kings and the Prince of kings; the Sacrificer and the Sacrifice; the Shepherd and the Lamb; and the Door through which the Shepherd enters. We can read in Revelation that he is both the one who sits on the throne and the Lamb who takes the book from the right hand of the one who sits on the throne; he is also the Word of God made flesh, and the Bible tells us that the Word is God.

We understand that the person (Name) of Jesus Christ fulfils many and all the roles that need to be fulfilled in order for us to be saved (Revelation 19:16) (Revelation 1:5) (Hebrews 4:14) (Ephesians 5:2) (John 10:11) (John 1:29) (John 10:2-9) (Revelation 4:1 to 5:7) (John 1:1-14).

We can see that when it is written to baptize IN THE NAME of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, THE NAME is in the singular which means that there is only ONE NAME and therefore only one person (Matthew 28:19). Indeed, the only name given to us for our salvation is THE NAME OF JESUS (Acts 4:12). Since Jesus is also the WORD OF GOD which represents the WATER that sanctifies us for our salvation, we can understand that being baptized IN HIS NAME represents being immersed in THE WORD OF GOD (Revelation 19:13) (1 Timothy 4:5) (Ephesians 5:26) (John 17:17). Jesus Christ reveals Himself to His disciples as the Father Incarnate, and He reveals Himself after His resurrection as the Alpha and the Omega; the First and the Last; the Beginning and the End; the Lord and the God of the holy prophets; and the God and Father (John 14:7-9) (Revelation 22:13) (Revelation 22:6 and 22:16) (Revelation 21:6-7).

The scriptures confirm that there is only one Lord, one God and Father of all; that these two are the same person, and that no one can say that Jesus is the Lord (Yahweh) except by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:3). Some people think they are being fair by saying that God sent his Son out of love for mankind as if he were another person, but if we know God at all, we know that he is not unfair to do this; And if the sacrifice is already touching for those who believe this, it is even more so for us who have received the revelation that the one who came to suffer and sacrifice himself so that we could have access to salvation is our Almighty God and Father who humbled himself, humbled himself, stripped himself of his Divinity, made himself similar to us, lowered himself to the level of man so that through faith in him man could be raised to God and regain a direct relationship with his Creator.

God had announced that He would come Himself and that He is the only Saviour, and He would never have allowed anyone else to suffer for the redemption of sins; and moreover, no one was worthy. Therefore, in His great love for man, He Himself suffered as a man by becoming a Son.

Some biblical passages:
