Let your left hand not know what your right is doing

People who show their works publicly, whether it is praying, fasting, or providing for the needs of the poor, are not pleasing to God and will get the wages they deserve, i.e. they will be condemned for their hypocrisy:

Matthew 6: 1 Take heed that you do not give your alms before men, to be looked at; otherwise you will not receive the reward from your Father who is in heaven. 2 So when you give your alms, do not blow the trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues, and in the streets, to be honored by men; verily I say to you, let them receive their reward. 3 But when you give alms, let not your left hand know what your right is doing. 4 That your alms may be in secret, and your Father, who sees [what is done] in secret, will publicly reward you.

Matthew 6: 5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they like to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners, in order to be seen by men; verily I say to you, let them receive their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your closet, and having closed your door, pray to your Father, who [sees you] in this secret place; and your Father, who sees you in this secret place, will publicly reward you. 7 Now when you pray, do not use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; because they imagine that they are answered by speaking a lot. 8 Therefore do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Matthew 6:16 And when you fast, do not look sad, as the hypocrites do; for they surrender their faces completely, that it may appear to men that they are fasting; verily I say to you, let them receive their reward. 17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; 18 That it may not appear to men that you are fasting, but your Father, who is present in [your] secret place; and your Father, who sees you in [your] secret place, will publicly reward you.

These passages make us understand that all those who practice good works publicly, so as to be seen by people, including those who show their works on the internet to be supported by others financially etc ... are not in the will of God and therefore can in no way please him. And if we are not hypocrites with God we must not reject anything of his Word. All those who show their works on the internet or elsewhere are not in the will of God. Anyone who helps the poor in public, who pray in public, who makes long prayers, or who does anything publicly so as to be seen by men instead of hiding will receive the wages of the hypocrites.

I urge you not to follow those who do such things and to practice good works discreetly and without hypocrisy, without glorifying yourself, and God will reward you. Knowing that we are called to practice spiritual works above all; but if someone has something to give, he gives in secret according to what the Lord puts to his heart, first to help those who want to follow the Lord truly, and then to help whoever is in need and comes across his path ; and that without being proud of it and without hypocrisy. Likewise if someone prays and fasts, let him do it in discretion, and not to be seen by crowds and to boast.
